Food Additives a.k.a. E Numbers

E numbers are number codes for food additives that have been assessed for use within the European Union. E numbers can be encountered on food labelling in New Zealand although the “E” prefix is omitted from most items.

It would appear on an ingredients list like this:
e.g. Seasonings (Contains Wheat, Flavour Enhancers (621, 631, 627)).

I have not completed all of the information in the following tables but I thought there was enough information to post the page on this site and work on it behind the scenes. The first table lists the additives that are animal derived and the second table lists the additives that may be animal derived, as they can be obtained from various sources. Also watch for any flavourings that may not detail it’s source.
